Authority - the perceptions and confusions around it ...

I keep having trouble with this one. Many times I feel that I am not exercising enough of it and am being a push over. But, the image I make is of a person who is bringing the authority in. This is a tricky business and I need new insights into myself, my leadership style and when things become participatory across the board and when it is My call alone. Where does the buck stop?

Hmmm... this one confounds me too!! I guess the difficult part is figuring out whether you think something should be your call or if you think people should participate. Knowing that will make stuff eaiser, no? Like Venky says: "take the call!!" :)

Yes I think. But, I feel it was easier for Venky because he could do it without getting caught in the personal professional greys. For me, I think I also crave for approval for my decisions from personal sphere and may be I need to check it and grow stronger. Does it make sense?

But I will love every fight and debate that we will have if I am not convinced of your decision. And that's a compliment :)
For me, the fights are a process that nurture respect! Does that make sense??!

Heeee quite an interesting deal this is. I think you are talking of 2 things - role and the whole business of authority. I am sure by role, we are quite clear on where does the buck stop. There are ways or process of how the buck stops isnt it? And whose buck is it that is stopping..

As for authority, i think this is the most crucial area for all of us. Authority perse is most often used to imply role related authority. But how do we energise the personal authority to play out? I think personal authority is the one thing that needs lot of understanding.

Leadership and authority again I think are 2 different things but most often goes together? Again exercising personal authority, leadership style of individual and the process of how things get done is the sum total of happiness of the collective.
