Needs and the needless

The same old same old same oldness of things
the tiring vicious trot
a conscious step forward and
an unconscious step backward

Energy bursting forth while passionately sweeping the floor
and scraping the muck off the bathroom tiles
a meditation of sweat....
the cloud of despair descends
as the oscillation between extremes of
indifference and attachment starts

All tried and tested emotions but still gripping
love to return to the sweetness of labour
which bursts forth like a shower of flowery rain
and a clear blue sky follows through

Wow so touching and so true these emotions are. I liked the last paragraph about still gripping and waiting for flowery rain.
Amazing. I am happy that you have started to write poems after many many years dear.
Feels like a very recognisable emotions when things so dear to you are coming to an end. What we carry on from here is a huge chest of happiness, and sweetness of labour which bursts like a flowery rain.

I see Moorishness here (Marianne Moore 1887-1972) which wants to break with tradition and find new ways of writing...Bringing this about by observing the world in all its mundane detail and making poems out of it with precise, surprising language invented to record the observations...
Her poem on 'poetry' starts like this...
I, too, dislike it.
Reading it, however, with a perfect contempt for it, one discovers in
it, after all, a place for the genuine...
